A scientific team discovers remnants of a ship and a few frozen cybernetic beings on the North pole. The beings recover fast and are soon as functional as they were before they froze a hundred years ago. They soon overpowers the research team and steal one of their transports. The Enterprise is ordered to stop the transport. Archer and his crew tracks them down and finds that the transport has been modified and improved in both engines as well as weaponry. It overpowers a small ship and infects the crew with nanoprobes. When Enterprise reaches the ship they chases away the transport and transports the crew of the attacked ship to sick bay. The rescued crewmen are overpowered by the nanoprobes, infects Dr Phlox and escapes from sick bay and tries to slow Enterprise down. They assimilate a part of enterprise and new technology springs out. They are eventually blown into space and the Enterprise reaches the modified transport and engages it in battle. The transport activates the alien technology on Enterprise which paralyses it. The transports are one of the few operational systems on board enterprise. Archer takes an away team and beams over to the transport and plant charges. Archer gives the order to detonate. The explosion stops the transport. Archer gives the order to destroy it completely. Phlox who has successfully treated himself from the infection has disturbing news from when he was infected, the beings on the transport sent a message to the Delta quadrant with coordinates for Earth. It will take the message a hundred years to reach the destination but then the cybernetic beings will eventually try to conquer Earth.
