A Borg Cube is on its way to earth, star fleet command gathers ships to defend the Federation but the Enterprise is ordered to the neutral zone, far away from the battle. Star fleet has no confidence in Captain Picard since he once was assimilated. When the Enterprise realizes that the Cube is going to be victorious, Picard decides to disobey orders and go there. Picard assumes command and is able to coordinate an attack that destroys the Cube. Before it is destroyed a Sphere is launched and goes toward earth, creates a time vortex and enters. Enterprise follows and finds the Sphere attacking a single location on Earth. When Picard hears the date and location, central Montana, April 4, 2063 he understands that the Borg is trying to prevent Earth to make first contact.

He beams down with an away team and finds Lily Sloan and eventually a drunk Zefram Cochrane. They start to repair the ship (The Phoenix). Picard hears the collective to some extent and realizes that the Enterprise is in trouble. The Borg have beamed aboard before the destruction of their vvessel and begun to assimilate deck after deck taking more control over the ship by the hour. Picard organizes the resistance.

After some fighting, he is alone and encounters an injured and confused Lily Sloan. Together they make their way to the bridge. The Borg have by then assimilatedassimilated half the ship and Picard wants to fight to the last man but is persuaded by Lily to initiate self destruct and abandon the ship. Picard decides to save commander Data before the destruction in fifteen minutes. He goes down to the Borg territory and finds Data. However, the Queen who reveal herself has been trying to seduce Data and persuade him to become her counterpart and lead the collective together with her. But Data who is not very impressed by the offer lures her into believing that he has accepted but at the right time he crushes a panel and gas pours out which causes all her organic parts to dissolve and to kill the all drones onboard. Simultaneously on earth, the Phoenix succeeds to start its journey and first contact is initiated.

This movie is really, really good. It is funny, interesting and exciting. It keeps you interested from the beginning and all the way to the end. This movie is a must see. It also has some interesting information on the Borg species.
