While growing up in South Africa, Alice Krige had no intentions to be an actress. She wanted to become a dancer but her father disapproved. She later took a drama class, thus altering her career plans and received a honours degree in drama from Rhodes University. As a result of her great interest in drama she moved to London and studied three years at London's Central School of Speech and Drama. In 1980 she received her first role, and after that she has appeared in many TV shows and movies. 1996 she portrayed the Borg Queen in Star Trek: First Contact, for which she won a Saturn Award.
